Civil Defense Stresses Importance of Using Designated Fire Areas to Protect Lives and the Environment
12 July 2026
The General Directorate of Civil Defense has emphasized the importance of lighting fires only in designated areas and avoiding the use of open flames in parks, areas with vegetation cover, or near trees and dry grass to safeguard lives and protect property.
The Directorate stated that fires resulting from the unsafe use of open flames contribute to the destruction of vegetation cover, harm wildlife, and deplete natural resources.
The directorate also urges to adhere to safety guidelines and instructions announced through official media and social platforms. For emergency assistance, the public should call 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, or 998 in all other regions of the Kingdom.
