MOI Announces an Update to the Regulations Governing the Responsibilities of Industrial Safety and Security Officers in Ministries and Public Entities

The Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Civil Defense, announced an update to the regulations governing the responsibilities of industrial safety and security officers in ministries, public governmental entities, and institutions. This update, published in the official Umm Al-Qura Newspaper, is titled “Responsibilities of the Safety, Prevention, and Fire Protection Officer in Public and Private Entities."


The updated regulations aim to improve the preparedness of facilities to handle daily incidents, ensure the efficiency of fire prevention and protection systems, and promote effective financial planning and spending efficiency. It also aims to regulate initial incident response procedures within facilities, implement evacuation plans, and identify the necessary resources for these actions.


Furthermore, the regulations seek to define the duties and responsibilities of safety officers to comply with modern legislation and regulations, identify the required qualifications and experience for the position, and enhance self-monitoring within the entities subject to the regulations. This is expected to positively impact compliance rates with safety, prevention, and fire protection requirements.
